Firewood
The mixed hardwood we sell is mainly Ash, Beech, Sycamore, Birch and Oak, but can include a variety of other hardwoods including Yew, Maple, Hazel, Alder, Chestnut etc.
Locally Sourced & Kiln Dried Firewood.
Our firewood is recycled from residue from our tree surgery business or comes from woodlands managed in East Anglia. We process and store the wood at our yard Ingham, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and then dry it in our own kiln on site, so we can guarantee the moisture content is below 20%, meaning we comply with the Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) (England) Regulations 2020.
We use waste logs (species which we don’t sell because they burn poorly e.g. – poplar, willow, pine and knotty pieces of wood too large for our clients’ fires) to fuel our wood fired kiln. An additional bonus is we are able to divert some of the energy created to also heat our office and to dry our staff’s climbing ropes and harnesses, as well as their wet weather clothing.

FIREWOOD FACT
With over 50% of firewood bought online coming from Eastern Europe, we offer a sustainable, local and ethical alternative with a guaranteed moisture content below 20%. We can legitimately claim our wood is sustainable because every year our landscaping department plant more trees than we fell.
Supply
We will transport and carefully deliver the logs to your property. For most deliveries we operate a tail board delivery system, which means we will tip them off loose at the point where we can get a tipping truck to.
On delivery, you will receive a copy of a moisture test undertaken at our depot just before the logs are transported to you. The method we use to take a reading is by splitting a log in half then taking six readings from the longitudinal internal split face. We add the six readings together, then divide them by six, which gives you the average and the overall moisture content. If the moisture content is above 20%, we won’t deliver them to you.
When you receive your logs, its best to immediately cover them up and store them off the ground somewhere in the dry. If you don’t store them in the dry, the moisture content may go up which we can’t be liable for.
If you would like your logs stacked, we offer a stacking service, which is in addition to the initial cost of the logs.
*Please note- the logs are delivered loose; they do not come in the bags or crates you see on the website. We tip the content of these bags/crates into our delivery truck before we bring them to you.
